Thermal transfer overprinting: an overview
etichetta.it, we produce roll labels ready to be applied to products. Manufacturers and distributors can also use our self-adhesive labels on thermal transfer printers to add additional information such as expiration date, maximum shelf display date, lot numbers and even lines of text identifying individual products.
Labels suitable for thermal transfer printing
Our self-adhesive labels can be supplied either as blank labels, or as printed labels and are suitable for thermal transfer printing. Our materials can withstand the heat given off by printers during printing, and our protective varnishes will allow proper ink adhesion without smearing. It is very important to know the printing type of your printer.
Are our printed labels compatible with your printers?
We are able to adapt our roll labels to almost any type of printer. During order entry you will have the opportunity to enter the parameters of the roll such as inner core diameter, maximum outer diameter, number of labels per roll and winding directions.
Thermal transfer printing (TT)
Thermal transfer printers use a black ribbon that must be replaced regularly. The advantage of this technology is that you can choose from a range of different materials. We recommend printing materials with a smooth, non-textured surface, such as:
- Matte white paper
- Glossy metallic coated paper
- Matt white PP film
- Transparent PP film
N.B. To ensure that overprinting works correctly, use the “UV protection” finish. If you choose “lamination” as the finish, we cannot guarantee that overprinting will work correctly.
